and i went trawling through all of Tom`s photo albums on Facebook during which i stumbled on a few real beauties that Tom took with his cell phone from our time working at the book store.

{for a few years when we (me, thomas and shakti) were at university, we worked as night staff at one of the branches of a South African book store conglomerate called Exclusive Books. we had some amazing times there... both before and after our managers turned into hitler-esque despots intent on destroying the planet.}
the first time Mandela came into the store during our shift. my coworker Monique ran to help him. Tom and I stood open mouthed behind the counter like fools.
sometimes we would throw caution to the wind and lie on the floor instead of cleaning just to damn the man
the time thomas thought shakti`s scarf arranged on our heads in the right manner would make us look like Belarusian refugees

I think i would wee and or cry if Nelson Mandela was that close to me!
They are such awesome photos. Its amazing the fun you can have in jobs in random places- aka a book store!!
Not sure what I would do if he was that close but something embarrassing I'm sure.
I feel nostalgic and these aren't even my memories! You just loaned them to me for the length of your post. ありがとう Mandela's always a winner in my book. Chuckle. Note the 'book' reference :P
I think of the "good old days" too. It also makes me feel really old. These photos are great!
You had Nelson in your book store. My god. It looks a bit like you were holding him hostage. Hmmm...
Ah, I miss coming to fetch you or going for coffee at the Mug and Bean or you and Shakti trying to force me to play UNO all the TIME!!! ;) And you know what's even sadder than saying the 'good old days'? Its getting "those Canaan days" from Joseph and his technicolour dreamcoat stuck in your head when you hear it.
Also read your other blog (couldn't comment there). So, Its really 'Sarah does housecleaning'- even in the blogging world? Hmmm... Sometimes, a clean slate although scary is a world of possibilities. So enjoy the white! Love you!
Oh, end of an era! Oh well. I set up a blog on tumblr and never used because I couldn't understand the interface...
wrong post for my comment. *tired*
giggle giggle - great pics. I think if I thought of my children in a raft in the ocean some days I may crack a smile at the thought of some peace and a good nights sleep :)
